Redwood Community Radio

Redwood Community Radio.   Our station serves Humboldt, Northern Mendocino, and Western Trinity counties in Northwestern California. KMUD is owned and operated by Redwood Community Radio, Inc. a non-profit corporation. We've been broadcasting since May 28, 1987. Our programming (90% of which is produced locally) includes music of all kinds (roughly 75% of airtime); news of the region and beyond; public affairs and call-in talk shows.

KMUD's mission and motto is "to entertain, to inform, to inspire” Entertainment through diverse musical and spoken word programming reflects and stimulates the taste of our listening audience. It is vital that citizenry in a democratic society be kept informed of rapidly changing events and issues. Redwood Community Radio feels responsible also to provide a broad spectrum of "public affairs" programming.   A desire to uplift and inspire, as well as inform, guides much of our program selection.  By definition, community radio strives to be responsive to the unique character of our community. The slogan “people-powered” reflects a core value.  Thousands of hours of volunteer efforts monthly and thousands of dollars in donations from listener members are essential to keeping KMUD on the air.
