KATRINA 2-YEAR ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL
Thursday August 30, 2007 Hosted by Mitch Jeserich of WBAI in New York City
Production assistance from Deepa Fernandes, Abdulai Bah, Saki Hall and Kat Aaron
Community-based organizing groups have produced their own radio documentaries about stories not being reported on the 2nd anniversary of Katrina. In this week's Sprouts we travel from Biloxi, Mississippi all the way to Baton Rouge, Louisiana as we show the scope that the devastation and lack of assistance has had on traditional African American communities.
Stories featured in this program come from the following groups:
- Mississippi Workers' Center for Human Rights
- Moore Community House, MI
- Coastal Women For Change, MI
- North Gulfport Community Land Trust
- Renaissance Village Teen Learning Center, LA
- United Houma Nation, LA
If you air this program, please let us know. Contact Kat Aaron: kat@peoplesproductionhouse.org.
Sprouts is a weekly program produced in collaboration with community radio stations and independent producers across the country. We bring you local stories of national interest produced at these radio stations and media groups.
The program is offered free of charge to all radio stations. For information, or if you would like to feature your work on Sprouts, contact Ursula Ruedenberg at ursula@pacifica. org.
