Nathan Moore, currently news and public affairs facilitator at WORT-FM
in Madison, Wisconsin, has been selected as the Network Programming Coordinator
for Pacifica Radio, the non-commercial radio network with five owned stations
and more than 100 affiliates across
the United States.
"The search process took six months," said Pacifica Foundation Executive Director
Greg Guma," and we are very excited to have found someone with Nathan's qualifications,
energy, and commitment to community radio."
A graduate of West Virginia University with a Masters Degree from the University
of Wisconsin, Moore's experience includes serving as New Director at WWVU
in West Virginia and both engineering and programming work for WORT, a Pacifica
affiliate. In 2006, he was a key organizer of the Grassroots
Radio Conference held in Madison.
"We were impressed with his collaborative approach to program development,
something that will be extremely important as Pacifica brings voices from its
stations and affiliates to national audiences," Guma said.
Pacifica decided to create the position of Network Programming Coordinator
more than a year ago, but the hiring process was postponed until a new National
Programming Policy and a job description could be developed and approved by
the Pacifica National Board. That process was completed last summer.
Guided by Pacifica's mission,
Moore will play a key role in implementing the new policy and coordinating production
and distribution resources, including affiliate stations, Free
Speech Radio News, the Pacifica
Radio Archives, the D.C. news bureau, technical and web staff, and station
news and public affairs departments.
He begins work in mid-January, and, after consulting with staff throughout
the network will be based in Washington, DC. |
