Lopez Island Community Radio
 Low-powered community radio KLOI is a new radio slated to go on the air in
January 2007. It operates on Lopez Island, located in the San Juan Islands in
Puget Sound, Washington. As well being known as a place of profound beauty and
place for observing wildlife and whale watching, Lopes Island is home to an
agricultural school for children who grow their own food. KLOI will encourage
community participation and feature perspectives through personal stories of
people living in small rural communities, particularly the stories of Lopez
Island. The radio station is also intended as communication clearing house and
rally point keeping the community safe and connected in the event of national,
regional, economic, or natural emergencies.
