Since 1988, WRFL, has been a commercial-free radio station on the University of Kentucky campus in Lexington. The station is run by students without automation and broadcasts live 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, year-round. Our programming is widely inclusive and covers almost every genre of music.
The majority of our all-volunteer DJ staff are students, though many shows are the result of invaluable contributions by community members. As the station's primary source of funding, RFL's primary commitment is to the university community, though we aspire to provide alternative music to a much broader audience. Our 250 watt terrestrial signal reaches all of Lexington, and beyond our geographic locale we are available worldwide via our high-quality web stream. In the coming year RFL is slated to upgrade to 7900 watts, allowing for coverage of much of the central bluegrass.
