 WYAP is a community based, membership supported non profit radio
stations serving the rural mountains of Clay County, West Virginia. On the air
since Sept 2004, YAP radio has a service area of about 7 miles and around the
globe on the world wide web.
With over 78% of our school children on free or reduced lunch programs, volunteers
from all walks of life run the station and provide a platform to improve life
in this underserved, impoverished area of the Appalachian Mountains. The struggle
here is not black, white, yellow, tan but rather the few social elites versus
the have nots.
The people now have an arena to empower the social "have nots" to
make change and growth possible. Social change now has a vehicle. That vehicle
is 101.7FM.
